It's partially my fault that your entries haven't been going through. I was the former moderator of the Empire LJ community but I handed over duties to CJ when I left last year in September. I guess the community had been inactive for quite sometime so CJ probably forgot about it. I myself was pretty caught up with work up here. I hadn't even gotten any emails about any of the post up until Mad_jamison's most recent post. Terribly sorry. If there is a revival of the community, I'm fine with continuing to moderate. Take care and I hope everything is good in Rhode Island.

moonfaerie77 told me she's unable to post here, so I was prompted to post a little something. Could it be the case the community is moderated, and that's why posts don't show up immediately? I think I remember now that they might be.

But either way, we could use more posts here. ;) I still go to Empire on Fridays, along with a lot of the "crew" I know there. I've branched out and now sometimes I'll have a coffee or Red Bull along with a mango lassi... not at the same time, of course. What are y'all enjoying there this summer? They do have incredibly good cookies and their wraps are delicious. I love the garlic herb chicken wraps. Maybe I'll have one tonight!

I still haven't been brave enough to try the bubble tea, but some folks really like it. I might have to try a 'dirty chai' sometime though, if only because of its name... *grin*

Talk to me/each other, Empire folks! It's the summer! There's gotta be something going on at Empire, right?

Alex got home from the Shadow Run group at Empire kinda early tonight. With Em and Jessica and Spin gone, I'm not sure who all is playing. You guys should post on this community. Don't let it die!

This makes me sad. I want to hear all the cool Empire news!

Did everyone get their Empire Open Mic DVD? It's a bargain at $3.00, the money goes to the food bank, and it's a lot of fun. See some of the coolest spoken word in Newport County, on your computer or your DVD player - great stuff.

And everyone needs to have a mango lassi before it gets real cold. Last time I was at Empire I surprised myself by having a lassi and then later having a hot chocolate (I liked the lassi better, but the hot chocolate is good). Well, I'd come in after a break, and it was cold outside!

Nothing like the warm atmosphere of Empire on a cold day.

I'm at Empire most Friday evenings, as y'all might know - but I'm thinking of trying to get an LJ meetup there - maybe I'll mention it to CJ next time I see him. Just a one-off thing, or one day a month where all us LJ fans of Empire could go to hang out - as if we don't already, but, y'know. Any excuse for me to go to Empire will do. :)

Hope everyone's doing well!

As most have you know, I'll no longer be working at Empire due to schooling in Boston. My last day is the 30th so if any of you would like to catch me before I leave, I'll be working Friday at 4:30 and Sunday through Tuesday my normal hours. With leaving Empire, I will also be handing moderation duties to CJ's brother deadbeat for this community.

As an employee at Empire, I've had a great experience working there. I've met many awesome people and made many fond memories. I'll surely miss working there as it's been the best job I've had to date. CJ and Marjorie were great bosses and I wish them all the luck with Empire's future prospects. I'll continue to do some work for CJ while in school in Boston and I'll definitely come down to visit as often as I can.

It's been fun! If I don't see you before I leave, I'll see you all later!

PS: Look out for me and Kristine's gallery coming in a few months! :D

Hey, I hope everyone can make it to this poetry reading. First off we're going to celebrate Kelsey's 18th birthday - and also it will be one of the last appearances for a couple of Empire locals as they will be heading off to college. (Moriah, Sherrie... tons of kiddos). Happy yet bittersweet at the same time. Just giving you guys the update! ^_^ Hope to see lots of people there!

So today I went to Empire to grab a bite since I heard there were salads! I picked up the Thai Peanut Pasta Salad = $3.00, it was so good! I got really full off of it which is weird...I eat a lot. I'm excited to see if any other new foods will appear.

Also, does anyone have any recommendations on a drink? ((I usually have bubble tea, italian soda or an iced tea...))

Hi! I just checked out the newportri community and didn't realise that you were on here! I came in last week when I lived up Broadway way, because I was bored and needed somewhere to read, then I liked it so much and hated where I was living so much that I came down in the evening for like, 4 hours and played chess and read the Fortean Times. Empire is a great place, and the drinks are amazing. I have a few days off this week so I will pop in.
